  Town hall meetings are fine -- but, as the article points out, that's now how a president generally communicates with the citizenry. The only advantage a town hall format provides for McCain is that he truly sucks at making speeches.
• Privatizing The Army from Obsidian Wings
  As this article points out, the recent Army Audit / KBR scandal is not so awful because an auditor was overridden (and cast out) in trying to deny KBR payment on some dubious charges (to the tune of $1B), but because KBR was essentially able to blackmail the Army into paying them, or else they'd cut off their food in Iraq. We're not just outsourcing things that can save money, we're outsourcing things that are absolutely critical to our operations. Does that really make any sense?

  I love computer graphics, but not only did Stan Winston and his folks create some of the kickingest-ass physical SFX in horror and sci-fi before CGI was a gleam in Tron's eye, they continue to do work retains a physical reality beyond what computers can yet provide.
