What's going on in Zimbabwe is an international scandal, and has been for years. Unfortunately, Africa has a piss-poor track record in policing (or intervening) on its own, and the US is unwilling, unable, and unpopular to lead an intervention itself. Mugabe, in the meantime, is proving is you crush all dissent in your country with a bloody machete and run the national economy (and polity) into the ground, you can simply flip a finger at the international community and get away with it.
