I11 is a-coming ...

... tomorrow

We are pleased to announce that Issue 11: A Stitch In Time will be made available on the Live City of Heroes servers on Wednesday, November 28th. All servers will be coming down for extended maintenance starting at 7 AM Eastern (4 AM Pacific) and we estimate they will be back up by 1 PM Eastern (10 AM Pacific).

  • Free Costume Token
Given the debut of Weapon Customization in Issue 11, a free costume token will be granted to all characters on Wednesday, November 28th with the launch of the Issue.

  • Free Respec
Additionally, with the many changes to powers included in Issue 11, we will be making a Free Respec available to all characters on Friday, December 7th. Read the full announcement of that here.

If you are not familiar with the many features included in the 11th free expansion to City of Heroes, click here to read the highlights!

It sure seems like this has been an exceedingly long beta -- but there's been a lot of numbers / power tweaking behind the scenes beyond the big flashy new features which has needed testing.

It's a good new issue.  I look forward to playing it Real Soon Now.

I heard tell that much tweaking was done to the animation times of powers, such as broadsword, katanna, ninja blade, etc. Also to the "casting times " of low tier power such as flares, ice bolt, and such. Thats what really slowed the process down.

I subscribe to the RSS feed for the Devs on the boards. There has, in fact, been a lot of work on both of those areas, as well as in playing with different Defiance models. It's not clear that the delays have actually stemmed from that, or if that work took place during debugging efforts. It's also not clear (until the actual release notes come out) which of those things have actually gone into production.

That said, anything that changes the animation on Flares has got to be a good thing.

So, what do you think so far? I realize you were in the Beta, but Live is often a different animal.

I'm playing a new Will/Axe Tank (using the Shovel version of the Axe, thank you VERY much!) and I've noticed some weirdness with the animations, but that's likely a relic of the massive and WEIRD lag. I've also seen quite a bit of broken geometry inside missions.

Your thoughts?

I admit, with business travel this week, I've not even gotten on (laggy hotel connection + laggy issue start-up = nothing I wanted to dabble with).

I've parked my main, Atomic Saint In Oreo Borneo and have run mission after mission after mission. Haven't done the "mendar silas " (yeesh) TF yet, but I have flashed back to Faultline, the Hollows, and Croatoa, all zones that postdated Sain'ts assension to fifty. good stuff.

I haven't done a whole lot -- but what I appreciate most at the moment is some of the new costume bits. :-)

Weapon customization is pretty nice, too.

Even more new costume bits coming out Soon (tm): Jester and a version of the PPD Hardsuit.

Up to 12 so far on my WP/Axe Tank and it's the smoothest ride I've had on a Tank, yet!

If you find yourself on Virtue look up Magni Incarnate, otherwise my global is @Artillery MKV

Game on, heroes!

Thanks, Arty.

I like WP -- it's a nice, all-around Defensive set (Tank or Scrapper).
