A cause we can all rally around

A lot of folks don't care about saving Farscape. There's much debate over the proper course of action in Iraq. But here's a cause everyone can support wholeheartedly.

Cavort!

Marn, the Grandmistress of this particular event, lays down the ground rules (in these two posts) as follows:

When International Cavorting Day becomes a reality (and I think we can all agree it's just a matter of time) then everyone on the planet will be issued a Cavorting Card. The card can be cashed in on a day when it's owner NEEDS to cavort and it will reimburse the cardholder for one day's wages.
There Will Be One Single Unbreakable Rule.
The One Single Unbreakable Rule is that you cannot cash in your card to help cover time for something practical. Look, you'll find a way to do the practical stuff, you always do.
Nope, International Cavorting Day is about acknowledging a moment of spontaneous joy, having freedom for random, senseless jolts of happiness.

Sure, there's a thick strain of multilateralist feel-goodness here -- heck, Marn even expects a UN resolution about this to be passed any day now.

Still, if the UN can't get behind International Cavorting Day, what the hell good are they?

Quoth Avocet ...

I still can't believe I missed National Talk Like a Pirate Day last month! Arrr!

Quoth Marn, eh ...

Thank you, Dave. I'm ... I'm ... I'm verkempt. A button, even. It's almost too much. At this moment I'm daring to dream that the groundswell might actually break into the DOUBLE digits. Oh, yes, there may be 10 people out there with a need to cavort.

You never, never know.

De nada.

And more info on the movement that keeps moving, International Cavorting Day, can be found here.

Quoth Marn, eh ...

Yes, the silliness continues unabated. A friend of mine is coding an actual Hall o' Fame for those few, those proud, those cavorters.

I am bemused.

Can you make it stop raining? This is my day to be outside and it is raining. This is so cosmically wrong.

Quoth *** Dave ...

While cavorting implies being able to romp through meadows and wood, in reality, cavorting is but a state of mind. Cavort inside all you want! It's just as good on the cardiovascular system -- though somewhat more rough on the table lamps.

Quoth *** Dave ...

UPDATE: There is now an Official International Cavorting Day Home Page! Wow! According to Marn (who still gets blame credit for the whole thing) ...

The International Cavorting Day Hall of Fame is open. You, too, could be part of an institution that's just like the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame except that it doesn't involve music, Ohio, talent or an actual building.
Be the first one on your block -- and, likely, your state or province -- to join!
