I've got a new cell phone, a Nokia 8265.

I'm dumping the old Motorola V.60 ("old" in the sense of I've had it for a while, "dumping" as in my company is willing to buy me a replacement after close to a year) in favor of the Nokia. It's a little bigger (still small), but it has some distinct advantages:

1. It's flatter than the Motorola. Flatter is more important in some ways than shorter.
2. It's got a built-in antenna, rather than one that sticks up (and catches on things, and snaps off).
3. It's not a flip phone. I've decided I hate flip phones. The hinges get loose, and it's one more action to fumble around doing when trying to answer the phone. Bleah. Plus, I can just look down and see who's calling (or why things are beeping), rather than having to pull the phone out and open it up.
4. Motorola's accessories are goofy.
5. It has a reasonable control set, vs. the Motorola which had eleventy zillion external buttons, none of which did anything the least bit useful.

Only it was the wrong case, for a smaller model. So I've had to resurrect my old (larger, ratty) Nokia 6160 case to carry it around in.

And, of course, the company I bought it from is Canadian, and taking most of the week off ...

Btw, the model I got was black, not blue. I don't plan on springing extra bucks for colorful faceplates.

I really like my flip phone although it does have an external read out with time, date and the number that's calling (or "message" or "missed call." But I'm more likely to have only a pants pocket to put it in and that makes a smaller phone more important in my mind. But, to each his own as they say.
Dumb buttons are the worst; my first phone had several. Seems like you have to have a phone to know what to avoid when you get your next phone.

Yes. All the cool Flash animation and spec sheets in the world won't tell you about that one annoying feature on the phone that will drive you batty for as long as you own it.

My Motorola did have an external display, but (a) I had to pull it out of the case to see it, and (b) it usually didn't have the info I was looking for on it. Feh.

Maybe I should have held out for one of these.

I like Nokia's, but Nokia LCDs don't like me. So I switched to a motorola (candy bar style - not flip) and am now much happier.
Motorola recently revamped their UI, improving it muchly. Now I actually want the flip phone with the external read-out. That's a sexy phone.

I was very happy with my 6160 (and Margie is still using it). I went for glitz and was burned, so I'm pleased to be back with Nokia.

Lou uses a 6160m and enjoys it. His Motorola's have all sucked ass big time (original flip phone, then a Star*Tac). Then he moved to my Nokia 918 when I upgraded to the 6160. Now I have a 6360 and we texted each other back and forth at GenCon to let the other know about our whereabouts. I'd never get anything but a Nokia. Save if we win PowerBall and then can afford the Vertu!
