Snow

I love Colorado.

Yes, commuting in snowy weather can be a bitch at times -- though my own trip in this morning was too bad -- but, damn, it's gorgeous to look around and see everything dappled in white, especially on the first morning I've arrived at work in daylight in a few months (due to Daylight Savings Time).

Anyway, yeah, I love it.

Colorado is one of the few states that I'd be interested in living in outside of Michigan and mainly due to the beautiful winters. Not that Michigan doesn't have its fair share of beauty in the winter, but living in SE Michigan as I do this area tends to miss a lot of the snow the rest of the state gets.

But, yeah, Colorado has always been high on my list of other places I'd consider living.

Well, I imagine we could find our way to welcome a few more newcomers ... :-)

Part of what makes Colorado's winters so nice is that, despite the snow, we continue to get a lot of sun, and the snow tends to vanish pretty quickly. It can be annoying while it happens, but we're not slogging around through slush and ice under grey skies for weeks or months at a time.

Quoth David Newman ...

As someone who moved from West Michigan to Colorado, I would say you've hit it on the head Dave. The first snowfall of the year is beautiful. Snow in the mountains is beautiful. Sun on the snow is beautiful. Snow that melts off quickly rather than packing into ice on the roads is beautiful. Living under a grey cloud cover for weeks without seeing the sun, as I did in Michigan, is not much fun and leads to Seasonal Affective Disorder.

While I miss the big trees common in Michigan, including the fall color that they make, having sunny skies in the winter is more important to me.

Well, coming from SoCal, I love the trees and fall color that we do get!
