I'm not sure the movie would have much appeal for non-sci-fi fans, but it has the rough edges and brawny energy of a good yarn, and it was made by and for people who can't get enough of this stuff. You know who you are.
He says, earlier in the article,
"Serenity" is an old-fashioned space opera, and differs from a horse opera mostly in that it involves space, not horses.
Which is, of course, ironic, given the criticisms leveled at the show by folks who couldn't understand why Joss did put horses in there ...
All of which reminds me of a Firefly quote from Julia's page:
ZOE: You sanguine about the kind of reception we're apt to receive on an Alliance ship, Captain?
MAL: Absolutely. What's sanguine mean?
ZOE: Sanguine - hopeful. Plus, point of interest, it also means bloody.
MAL: Well, that pretty much covers all the options, don't it?
Dunno how it's going to happen, but I truly want to see this flick this weekend.

Saturday? Sunday? I'm there, just call... the ladyfolk can stay home and knit or something.
We've got the babysitter booked. Now, so long as Pumpkin cooperates, Serenity will be the last movie we see in theatres for a while.
Of course, Ben was supposed to cooperate before our final outing to see Pirates of the Caribbean, and that didn't happen...the uncertainty adds a little more excitement to the outing.
Given the extent over the past few weeks where I have already asked Margie to sit at home, take care of Katherine, and tend to levelling up some new CoH characters her knitting, I'm a bit reluctant to ask her some more. Plus there's the whole thing where I think she might like to see it, too. :-)
CoH the modern girls bridge.
Yes I would like to see it. Maybe we could get a sitter Saturday afternoon?
I could see it again. Or MirrorMask. Again. Or both.
This ladyfolk ain't staying home and knitting. An email from my hubby yesterday when I was at work read simply:
SUBJ: Which show?

Things were a little too harried yesterday at work to think about going out again for a couple of hours, but we're up for it today.
Steve Jackson liked it too. I'm hoping to see it on Sunday. I had to work way early Saturday and couldn't manage to pull off seeing it on Friday.
