Oasis

While Katherine was in her pottery class for an hour, I decided to walk around deKoevend Park, which adjoins the Goodson Center.  I'd been there before for various functions at the park, but as I wandered, I was surprised to find out how much there is there, out beyond the picnic shelters and soccer fields.

The park borders the High Line Canal, a major irrigation waterway that wends its path across Denver.  In this case, it's up above the park and center, with a lovely biking/jogging trail alongside, and the trees and temp of the water kept the air there relatively cool.  It stretches all around the big bend of the park, which itself causes a large, bulging swerve in University Blvd., and was a delight to walk alongside.

In addition, there's a significant amount of open space within the park borders, including a lot of it fenced off as wildlife shelter.  At one point I was up on a hillside, looking out, and I had very few signs that I was in the middle of Denver suburbia.

Gauging from the mileage markers, I probably walked 3 miles, reading and enjoying myself, before Katherine's class was over and it was time to race home.  A very pleasant time.  I expect to take pictures in the future.
