Daylight Saving Time - This One's for Mom!

My mom asks:

Will the earth stop rotating if we just let our computer change its clock on the "normal" date?

And, of course, it won't. Your computer may burst into flames and burn down the house, but the Earth's rotation isn't contingent on Microsoft OS patching. Yet.

But if you want simple info on finding out whether your Microsoft patch for DST has already installed (or how to get it to do so painlessly), I offer one and all: The Lazy Person's Guide to Adjusting Your PC for Daylight Saving.

Not that I'm calling you lazy, Mom! But it's better than pointing to an article on The Idiot's Guide to ... :-)

So there are various permutations of getting it wrong this time that relate to all sorts of network components that didn't update for some reason. Thanks, Congress!
