As we walked down the DIA Concourse C last evening, I saw a sign by some of the (scant few) lockers that, due to the "heightened security," the lockers were officially Closed.
The immediate questions that came to mind:
(Margie suggested that we might be smuggling in 3 oz. of Deadly Terroristic Liquids at a time, creating an Evil Stash in a Communal Terrorist Locker that could be used to make something Really Bad.)
And, on a related note ... well, maybe the lockers are locked down because DIA security sucks.

Funny that we went through several wars, a cold war and never saw a need to have the extremes in security we see today. Better yet, the 9-11 attacks were carried out with box cutters!
Of course, you cannot debate these matters lest you become labeled 'un patriotic' or 'not caring about our security'
No one has a problem with rational security measures and the key word is 'rational'
Of course, there may be disagreement as to what is "rational," and part of the job is to (a) sell the rationality of specific measures or (b) be ready to impose them *if* necessary, even if the public is not convinced.
That said, a lot of security measures being taken are what's called "security theater" -- something that (a) looks like Actions Are Being Taken, thus Justifying Salaries, and/or (b) creates fear (why else would they do that if it weren't a threat) and therefore justifies the actions that way.
On a completely unrelated topic, thanks for donating to the March of Dimes walk, I really appreciate the support.
Thanks
