Australia's a huge country/continent. It's amazing how much of that remains clustered on the outskirts.

That's what happens when you build an island that's a huge desert fringed by habitable areas!
True -- much of the interior is not terribly hospitable (whether desert or tropical bits). Still, kind of remarkable.
