An Amber Diceless Role-Playing Game character
by Dave Hill

Aladris is a character I am running in Scott Nolan’s Sharper Than a Serpent’s Tooth PbEM campaign, which began in March 1998. I’ve put this page here in preparation for putting other material on-line that shouldn’t be automatically visible to the players in that campaign (i.e., that should not be on the campaign pages). If you are a visiting player, and don’t want to be spoiled, turn back now.

Aladris has had a varied history. She was originally put together as a Non-Player Character in a GURPS campaign I was running about ten years ago. She played a bit of a colorful part, especially when the players ran into trouble. I liked her as a character and as a concept.

About a year later, my then-friend and now-wife-and-friend, Margie Kleerup, started in the campaign. Aladris was a natural addition, and that’s when much of her past history (beyond her profession and fraternal loyalty) were written.

When Scott asked me to join in the STST campaign, I tried to think of what sort of character to play. I’d already done the Warrior type (Morrigan), and the Fool type (Graeme) in other settings. Margie, bless her heart, suggested Aladris.

I’ve had to do a bit of retrofitting to the character to fit her into an Amber setting, but not as much as one might think. Scott’s campaign basically starts everyone (as far as I know) off in their own little Shadows, never dreaming that they might be part of something bigger ...

I have, as the date of the campaign would suggest, some years worth of player logs to compile.  It may never happen.  In the meantime, I hope you enjoy at least this introductory material.
