This is a lot like Exchange-based Combat, with the following exceptions. (FUG 39)

  1. At the beginning of the battle, determine initiative by rolling Alertness (ties broken by an appropriate combat skill).

  2. Characters act in initiative order, each taking an action.

  3. The actor rolls dice to attack (or do something), and if they beat the defender's roll to defend, damage is dealt on the Wounds Table (Clipped only affects the next attack, not defense).

This can burn through Aspects really quickly, since it does a lot of rolls.

So ... in a firearms battle, what's the roll to defend? Some sort of undefined skill, or using a combat skill for defense? Also, though I've smoothed it out here a bit, this really feels a lot more oriented toward just combat than Exchange-based. I think that I'll not be using this, unless further convinced.
