I was going to post about the 17th Anniversary of the Challenger explosion, the other day. I really was.
I would have talked about the tragedy — the tragedy as much that it led to a retrenchment from space, as well as the himan tragedy of those involved.
And I would have said something about how this is still a dangerous business.
And now …
Well, hell.
And, so help me God, the first person I hear claiming this is an omen, who talks about this as some sign from a deity about America’s overreaching pride, who mentions it in context of their being an Israeli on board …
It’s already happening. People are such morons.
Well here‘s an example. (via InstaPundit, who has quite a number of posts on the disaster.)

My biggest fear is that they’ll indefinitely ground everything out of fear of safety, but not be willing to spend the money for replacements.
We can pay for replacements with more tax cuts!
I know it’s not a good, or charitable, or defensible feeling, but when folks like this start calling this “God’s vengeance,” I feel quite the desire to show them what vengeance really looks like.
