Well, aside from all the other stuff I wrote about (the diocesan convention, seeing Shaun of the Dead, I still managed to have a pretty busy weekend.

Never did get back to working on the dynamic Category archives thang on this blog. On my list of things to do this week.

My grandmother was in, but is ready to get back out, of the hospital. Ongoing thoughts and prayers always welcom.

Margie ran her Voyage into Discovery game on Sunday, and I actually posted a game log for it. Could it be that game logs are making a comeback?

Saturday night, Doyce also ran us through some character generation stuff in HeroQuest, as part of his Living Jungle conversion. I was completely confused, but had a fun time nonetheless, writing up Ookah the monkey katanga.

Got planted, with Katherine’s help, a minor slew of bulbs and irises, with an eye toward the spring.

Admired the completed dry wall in the dining/living room. Next up is getting a new garage door ordered trim painted before the weather keeps that from happening this year.

  1. Apologies for the chargen confusion — Having never presented it to someone before, I was at a bit of a loss as to how to begin. Having only one book didn’t much help either, I imagine.

I actually think running the whole thing in front of a computer screen would have helped, thanks to all the notes I’ve been taking on the wiki regarding HQ chargen (and the dozens more I made the day after our little get-together).

Heartening at least was the fact that Margie (who’d read a good chunk of the rules before) and Randy (who’s been playing with the supers conversion rules someone has online) seemed at someone less of a loss.

I have somewhat high hopes for this — both for Jungle as a terribly good setting to use for HQ as a test run, and as a really fun potential OGL replacement.

  2. MT311, baby. Well, that and the Categeories archives are dynamic (and, thus, don’t get rebuilt; they’re frelled right now, too, but fixing that won’t change things).

  3. As to the chargen — part of it was also (a) designing a new character, rather than converting (for reasons we both agreed on, of course, but, still …), and (b) being very, very tired (as demonstrated by my eventually falling to sleep — not the company, I assure you).

I think actually seeing how the system plays will make the chargen make more sense. 🙂
