Holy Cripes!!!
Thanks Dave! I guess it says eloquently how great these movies are (and how far Lucas has fallen) that I am way more excited about seeing this Director's Cut than I am of the final Star Wars movie (even though I've already seen the non-Director's cut twice).
In some ways I was a little bit underwhelmed by Return of the King. It was great, but I always thought it was missing too much (especially the final confrontation with Saruman). It seems that this Director's Cut will be the movie that the RotK always should have been.
Seeing the preview stirred an enthusiasm for the DVD set that fit in quite nicely with the last three years' enthusiasm for the next film. I fear it's 2005 that will have a bleak Christmas.
