After meeting three days last week (Wed/Thu evenings, and Saturday afternoon), we’ve managed to narrow the search process to two candidates. In a couple of weekends, two teams will be visiting them on their home turf (interviewing folks, sitting in on services, etc.), then a week or two after that, the candidates will be visiting here.

I managed to duck out of going on the visitations elsewhere (due to other plans), but I expect to be investing a fair amount of time when the visitors arrive. And gladly, as it will be interesting to get to know them, especially whichever one we end up calling.

Both candidates have interesting backgrounds, a lot of strengths to bring to the table, and yet are different enough that the actual decision will be something of a challenge. Given our track record, though, I think we’ll be able to make it. We’ve had disagreements at various times so far, but in each case have been able to reach a considered and prayerful acceptance. I think, personally, that either of these candidates (as I currently know them) would make a good pick.

Current plans are that we should have a recommendation before the Vestry by early March. At which point, the Search Committee work will be over with. I think the group as a whole is very much looking forward to that, not only (though not to discount) because it will be the end of a long service, but because it will mean we’re moving forward in the parish to the Next Chapter. Which is darned exciting, I’ll tell you now.
