When Worldviews Collide
You scored as Cultural Creative. Cultural Creatives are probably the newest group to enter this realm. You are a modern thinker who tends to shy away from organized religion but still feels as if there is something greater than ourselves. You are very spiritual, even if you are not religious. Life has a meaning outside of the rational.

A lot of people have touted this particular test. I tried it twice, trying to be less nuanced the second time, and in both cases came up with this.

Hrm.

I suspect I'm still a bit more nuanced in my religious (vs. spiritual) life than the test picks up on. Does believing in the symbolic nature of some scripture, or disagreeing that it should be considered literal, make one irreligious? I guess so, according to the test. Oh, well, there's plenty of organized religion I do "shy away from," so I guess it's a fit.

On the other hand, I'm not necessarily in bad company.

You scored as Materialist. Materialism stresses the essence of fundamental particles. Everything that exists is purely physical matter and there is no special force that holds life together. You believe that anything can be explained by breaking it up into its pieces. i.e. the big picture can be understood by its smaller elements.

Although that's probably the best representation of my beliefs among the possible answers, I think the questions were simplistic and demonstrate that either the author really doesn't understand what he's trying to test for very well, or he's not very good at writing questions for such a diagnostic quiz. There are two problems with the quiz that I can point out easily. The first is that the various categories are not all dealing with the same subject. For example, modernism and postmodernism are not really about metaphysics, while materialism and idealism are. The second is that if the author is using the terms in something like the standard way, I'm definitely not a "romanticist" or a "postmodernist". My views are much closer to the moderns than to the postmoderns.

You scored as Existentialist. Existentialism emphasizes human capability. There is no greater power interfering with life and thus it is up to us to make things happen. Sometimes considered a negative and depressing world view, your optimism towards human accomplishment is immense. Mankind is condemned to be free and must accept the responsibility.
