The Church of England has admitted that female bishops are actually “theologically justified.” Just to show that all we Anglican-types debate about isn’t just gay rights.
Fourteen of the provinces in communion wth Canterbury (i.e., the Anglican Communion) recognize female bishops. Another twenty-four do not (some of them in rather … strenuous terms). How those latter will handle the Episcopal Church having elected a woman as Presiding Bishop (Primate) remains to be seen — though I assume they will be able to mask their disdain by poiinting at the whole Bp. Gene Robinson thang.
