My family

In what other family could I be sitting at table on a Monday night, eating some great steak and cottage potatoes, drinking some excellent Hansen Zinfandel, and discussing amongst all three of us the origin of Spider-Man's black costume and who the participants were in the Marvel Secret Wars?

I love these people.

Quoth Avocet ...

What is there to discuss about the origin of Spidey's black costume? Is there some controversy of which I'm unaware?

Quoth *** Dave ...

Well, there's the question of the movie origin, vs. the comics origin, vs. the meta-reasons why his costume changed.

And the conversation ended with Dave searching the net for pics of The Disco Dazzler in her original costume.

Which naturally led to a discussion of the Hypno-Hustler. ;)

Quoth Artillery MKV ...

Ah, but did you enter into the conversation of exactly why none of the super heroes came as complete teams? That, strangely, only the very most popular members of those teams made it to the wars?

All kidding aside, great conversation to discuss the change from source material to the Silver Screen . . .

Quoth *** Dave ...

The cherry-picking of characters was ... interesting. Though, frankly, it seemed like nearly all the then-members of the X-Men were there: Colossus, Cyclops, Nightcrawler, Prof. X, Rogue, Storm, Wolverine. No Kitty, but that was to create a romantic conflict for Colossus.

Well, those are all the popular X-men . . . .plus Prof. X was needed for the Deus Ex Machina ending. And you'll note that the x-men were seperated from one another and teamed up with others from outside their normal sphere of influence . . .to try and build cross over fan interest for all the comics represented with participants in the SW.

Frankly I'm surprised that the Villains from the SW didn't get short series after the SW conclueded just to generate more income . . .
