Potpourri of Politics

Because maybe some folks want to skip over the political bits.

1. Dave Winer: Obama: Name Your Cabinet – An intriguing idea … though subject to the risks of not vetting someone thoroughly (and we’ve all seen how that works out).
2. Obama Loads the Magic Bullet – Minds are terrible things to waste.
3. Koch Backs Obama – Always nice to see an interesting an unexpected endorsement.
4. Explaining to a 6 Year Old – This reminds me this post. Nifty stuff.
5. Everybody Loves Me, Baby. What’s the Matter With You? – Hey, if we can opine on elections in other countries (not to mention occasionally influence them), other countries have a right to opine on ours. And … wouldn’t it be nice to not have the world pointing at us and sadly shaking their heads?
6. McCain To Be Tested By Palin’s Faith – More importantly, the Religious Right will be demanding that McCain not only pick one of their own, but defend her against any attacks on her faith-based policy positions. Oh, and they don’t want McCain to weasel out on SCOTUS nominations, either. But remember, he’s a maverick!
7. Heart Update – I repeat — where’s the RIAA when they could finally do some good?
8. McCain Camp Assails Book-Banning Report as a ‘Smear’ – Right. Asking about banning “challenging” books was just rhetorical. And Palin’s later firing of the librarian was just a coincidence. But, that’s how personnel policy in the Palin admistration works — lack of support means firing, speaking the party line means promotion.
9. Now Sarah Palin Is “The Chosen One” – Amusing how they lambasted Obama for his “celebrity,” but seem to revel on Palin’s.
10. The Road to the Bridge to Nowhere – So not only did she support the Bridge to Nowhere before it became a political liability, not only did she keep the Federal money anyway and use it for something else, but she’s also still spending money to build the road to where the bridge would have been. But remember — she’s a fiscal conservative, too!
