(Given the way the cans evaporate around here whenever we have a game, I can well believe this story.)

  1. Yeah, like Dr. Pepper’s aftertaste doesn’t take getting use to …

I do prefer “real” vanilla Coke (Coke with a good vanilla syrup mixed in), and VC is sometimes a bit sweeter than what I’m looking for, but it’s an nice alternative to have in the Fridge of Many Drinks.

  2. I bought a liter on sale a few weeks ago. It wasn’t bad. It tasted just like Coke with vanilla mixed in — or at least, with vanillin (the imitation) mixed in. If vanilla-flavored coke is your thing, I’d say this is a pretty good substitute for not having a good quality extract on hand. (Me, I go in and out of liking vanilla.)

  3. Well, Dave, now that you’ve reminded me, I must confess that I did not like Dr. Pepper at first. I was 16, and visting my best friend for a month (his family had relocated to Boulder, CO). After we exhausted the supply of 7-Up, it was either DP or tap water. I quickly developed a taste for DP.

Frankly, I’ve never been a cola man, but I do prefer coke to the too-sweet Pepsi.

  4. Okay, some whining….when are they coming out with chocolate coke? Ever have a chocolate coke from Sonic?? Mui yummy. Chocolate makes everything better.

  5. And I thought a renaissance man like yourself would enjoy the smooth chocolate goodness of a YooHoo. A chocolate coke is very much like YooHoo, except with a wonderful fizz.

  6. Blech. Give me regular Coke any day. Or either of the top Colas as a diet drink with the Lemon. !Twist!

Is it a taste bud thing?
How many out there hate the Vanilla but like/and or love/ the Lemon?
