I’m not quite sure of the difference in moral standing to speak about political, geopolitical, military, or any other matters, between a blogger and, say, a cartoonist.
I guess that’s because I’m not a cartoonist.

*snort*
I do so love Tom Tomorrow!
I don’t get it. Is it supposed to be funny?
I think the cartoonist meant it to be funny (or, perhaps, bitingly witty). Personally, I find it insulting, but, then, I’m just a blogger.
Well, I found it to be mean-spirited (like all those caricatures of Trek fans or gamers) and, as you pointed out, hypocritical.
It’s not a cariacture of all bloggers, or even all warbloggers, just those warbloggers who engage in the most overheated rhetoric and who have an overinflated opinion of their own self-importance. Tom Tomorrow pokes fun at his own lowly stature as cartoonist from time to time as well.
Some mighty thin skins on the net these days. Sheesh.
Oh, well, if it’s only engaging in stereotyping and moral discrediting of the “most overheated” and “self-important” warbloggers, I guess that means it”s okay …
So, which of those pudgy cowards specifically lack moral standing in discussing geopolitics and foreign policy because they’re too busy nursing their CTS and mooching Cheetos from their moms? I want to make extra-special sure I don’t read them.
Mr. Tomorrow, in attempting to come to his own defense, hasn’t quite claimed to have merely been caricaturing an “archetype” of what a blogger who comments on the war “could be” or “could become” if there were not Concerned Morally Pure Skeptics™ such as himself to raise the admonishing finger, but he comes close.
