Went ahead and bought a new microwave oven today, to replace the broken one. Would have done it Sunday, but the only box that the local Best Buy had of the model we wanted was open and stuffed haphazardly under a shelf. I hit the Best Buy near my office, and got a nice, new, shiny box (with a microwave inside).

We decided on the model we previously had, the Sharp Platinum Collection R-630DS. It’s served us well (except for crapping out after a year and a half), and for its interior size, it’s the smallest thing on the market (since the controls are on the door itself). Plus we know how to use the functions we want, which is always a challenge with a new microwave.

Here’s hoping it lasts for a few years.
